About Safe And sober Canada
Written by Safe And Sober Canada
Safe and Sober Canada was incorporated in the winter of 2008 to bring awareness and education to a growing problem; unsafe driving practices. These include drinking, drug use, and other activities that continue to take place behind the wheel of a motor vehicle, despite widespread media and law enforcement involvement.
Alcohol is a factor in aprox 40 % of traffic fatalities among 16-19 year-olds, and this number climbs to almost a staggering 50 % in 20-24 year-olds. Clearly the message is not making it through. Our goal is to utilize various (and ANY reasonable) means to alter the attitudes and actions of young people in this age group when they are behind the wheel of a car, including telling Melanie's story.
Success or failure is best measured in the long term. We feel that if we can save one young life, and spare one young person's family from having to go through the living hell that we have lived since that night, then we will have been successful.
"Safe and Sober Canada" was incorporated to reach young adults about impaired driving and safety issues. Our goal is to make information available to them so that they can make better choices. We have a very passionate board of directors and have ambitious goals. We request your support or involvment to reach our youth and prevent more tragedies.
If you would like to help or learn more we would like to hear from you.
